How should my roof insulation be built up?

Last updated on:

The secret to good insulation is in choosing the materials and the installation. Because good insulation is more than just the material used. Without a good sub-roof and moisture barrier, the insulation is worthless.

The sub-roof

  • protects insulation against snow and rain
  • must be waterproof
  • also protects against wind
  • increases the insulation value of the roof

The insulation material

Various insulation materials are suitable for a sound insulation of your attic floor or sloping roof.

The moisture barrier

  • serves as a finishing layer above the insulation material
  • is an airtight protective layer that prevents damp air from penetrating the insulation
  • has perfect glued seams and is attached to the walls with an adhesive
  • is very important: if damp air condenses in insulation, it reduces the insulation value of the material.
