Electrical installation

Where can I find my EAN code?

Last updated on:

You will find your  EAN code (18 digits starting with 54144) on your energy bill.

If you are a gas and electricity customer, you will have 2 EAN codes, one for each energy source.

Example of an invoice with an EAN code.

Don't have a bill to hand?

Have your address and meter number to hand. The meter number can be found on the front of the meter, near the meter reading. You can then:

  • use your network operator's (such as Sibelga in Brussels) online search module;
  • or call your network operator.
Your meter number is located on the front of the meter.

Are you moving into a new building?

Ask the previous owner/tenant to give you the EAN code shown on their old electricity and gas bills.

The building manager should also be able to give you the meter number for your flat. Sometimes, the flat served can be found on the meter.

If it is a new building and/or meter

Your network operator will provide you with the EAN code when the new meter is installed.
